Wow! Himawari, it's a wonderful idea. :сооl:
You don't need to use commas in your sentences

It's always difficult for me to pick up a topic. But ok, let's talk about superstitions. I know that in different countries there are various of things that could bring good and bad luck. We already spoke about a clock in my diary. Which interesting superstitions do you know? What do you believe in?
Actually we are already discussing English grammar 009* Russian punctuation is a big problem for me but I like it in English. They use commas in a very rare case ))

I try not to believe in superstitions, because somehow thinking about them can make my mood worse. So, when I see a cat crossing a path in front of me, I try to think that the animal is busy hurrying somewhere. 009* However, yeah, there's a lot of superstitions. I think most of Lithuanian superstitions are similar to Russian ones (about a black cat, giving clock/knives as a present, etc.). Do you know any specific American superstitions?

Oh, I remembered one thing. At school, we believed that if the first person you see on the day of the exam is a man (for a girl, and a woman for a boy) then the exam will be lucky and easy. Strangely, it almost always worked. 0101*
English punctuation isn't as simple as it seems, actually, because there is thousand of cases when commas and other marks are justifiable and thousand of cases when they are not. Oh... that was a pain while my university years. 009* So we better not discuss it now! 009*

Sorry for breaking in into your conversation.
I would suggest to enlarge the topic. Not to speak only about superstitions, but some traditions, customs or cultural attractions.
If to speak about superstitions we may be still pagans deeply in bones to believe in being Christians at the same time.
And we can often make up superstitions for ourselves.
Have learned a bit about English punctuations and italics usage.

Sorry, I know my English not perfect and sometimes terrible, Don't have a lot of practice in speaking it!

It was in London. I went to my English class and because it was raining outside I bring my wet umbrella with me in the classroom. Then I decided to dry the umbrella as I usually did. I opened it and put in the corner of the room. My teacher was terrified. Open umbrella in the room it's a very bad luck in the UK. :knou:
This story have a continuation. Next time when my husband put open umbrella on the floor in our room I told him about this superstition. He said it's stupid but when I went to the bed at night I accidentally stepped on his umbrella and broke it. 009*
We decided that the reason of this superstition is to prevent people of leaving their umbrellas all over the place 0101*

I'll think about American superstitions. Couldn't remember anything for now.

olliver, you are always welcome to join our conversation! Yes, traditions also a very interesting topic. :сооl:

It's interesting to know about traditions with umbrella. My husband also never opens it in the room. Now I know what to tell him.
